چکیده

In scheduling, it is important to maintain the terminal inventory levels above threshold values to prevent stockout. However, simply enforcing the terminal inventory level above a lead-time-based threshold for each product, as it is common practice, does not exploit the relationships of inventory levels among products. To overcome this drawback, we propose a new type of terminal constraints for single-stage problems, considering singleand multi-unit facilities. Replacing the traditional lead-time-based constraints with the proposed linear terminal constraints leads to better closed-loop solutions. Using different examples, we show how to obtain the terminal constraints, and we verify their effectiveness using instances with and without uncertainty.

Minimizing the Number of Tardy Jobs in the Single Machine Scheduling Problem under Bimodal Flexible and Periodic Availability Constraints

In single machine scheduling problems with availability constraints, machines are not available for one or more periods of time. In this paper, we consider a single machine scheduling problem with flexible and periodic availability constraints. In this problem, the maximum continuous working time for each machine increases in a stepwise manner with two different values allowed. Also, the durati...

A Mathematical Programming Model and Genetic Algorithm for a Multi-Product Single Machine Scheduling Problem with Rework Processes

In this paper, a multi-product single machine scheduling problem with the possibility of producing defected jobs, is considered. We concern rework in the scheduling environment and propose a mixed-integer programming (MIP) model for the problem.  Based on the philosophy of just-in-time production, minimization of the sum of earliness and tardiness costs is taken into account as the objective fu...

A multi-product vehicle routing scheduling model with time window constraints for cross docking system under uncertainty: A fuzzy possibilistic-stochastic programming

Mathematical modeling of supply chain operations has proven to be one of the most complex tasks in the field of operations management and operations research. Despite the abundance of several modeling proposals in the literature; for vast majority of them, no effective universal application is conceived. This issue renders the proposed mathematical models inapplicable due largely to the fact th...

A multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) for hybrid flow shop scheduling problem with assembly operation

Scheduling for a two-stage production system is one of the most common problems in production management. In this production system, a number of products are produced and each product is assembled from a set of parts. The parts are produced in the first stage that is a fabrication stage and then they are assembled in the second stage that usually is an assembly stage. In this article, the first...

Optimum Aggregate Inventory for Scheduling Multi-product Single Machine System with Zero Setup Time

In this paper we adopt the common cycle approach to economic lot scheduling problem and minimize the maximum aggregate inventory. We allow the occurrence of the idle times between any two consecutive products and consider limited capital for investment in inventory. We assume the setup times are negligible. To achieve the optimal investment in inventory we first find the idle times which minimi...
